Playa Potrero was the first town I lived in and at the time was a dead end leading to untouched virgin beaches to the north . Absolutely perfect for the explorer in me. Nowadays there is at least one development beyond Potrero on Playa Dante and is pretty exclusive but beyond yet remain a few uninhabited beaches ready for the intrepid explorer. I once did a 10 mile hike past Potrero with my dog Seikan and marvelled at the untamed jungle and spotted Capuchin or White Faced Monkeys on that trip for the first time. The memories that stick were all the opened oyster shells on these virgin deserted beaches and my mind turning to where must be the buried treasure as it had an ancient untouched vibe going on. Potrero is a lot of fun and boasts a couple of very cool spots that make it worth the trip.Ticos and Gringos live side by side as some of the small developments remained affordable but that is beginning to change after the 15 year bureaucratic struggle over the Flamingo Marina has finally resulted in broken ground and some very tasteful high end development
